BUILDING OUR COMMUNITIES
“Building our Communities”, BAWN’s monthly TV show
TV Show Schedule For 2007:
The Builders Association of Western Nevada (BAWN) went high-tech when it rolled out its own monthly TV show in March 2007. The show, titled “Building Our Communities”, is produced by the Association in conjunction with Nevada Video Productions.
It is available on most community access TV stations throughout northern Nevada and is also available via the internet on our website by clicking on the “Building Our Communities” link at www.bawn.org. The half-hour show will feature new material each month on community access stations throughout northern Nevada, including Channels 10 and 26 in Carson City and various channels in Douglas County, at South Lake Tahoe, in Fallon and on Channel 16 in Reno-Sparks. It also airs on Channel 18, News Carson City, each Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6 p.m.
The inaugural March show featured BAWN President Glen Martel and BAWN state government affairs chairman Aaron West-Guillen being interviewed. Additional topics have included building activity in Fernley, the Coalition for Smart Growth and the Sustained Growth Initiative (SGI) in Douglas County, and affordable housing. BAWN has also featured Dr. Elliot Eisenberg, senior economist with NAHB, talking about the Douglas County economic study and similar studies for Lyon County and the City of Fernley; Rick DeMar, BAWN CEO, with an update on the 2007 Legislative Session results regarding construction issues; and talked about green building with builders, utility companies and other experts. In September, BAWN took a look at economic re-development and mixed use in Carson City. The October show features Eisenberg again with a look at the economic impact of building in Lyon County, the City of Fernley and Douglas County; the November show will take a look at how and when to weatherize your home for winter; in December BAWN takes a look at the economic outlook for 2008; and BAWN's benefit providers will be spotlighted early in 2008 with additional building issues and construction news to be featured in the coming months.
