GREEN BUILDING

The Builders Association of Western Nevada is in the process of designing a program for Northern Nevada to help promote Green Building. BAWN in conjunction with BANN and the University of Nevada, Reno, are currently formulating guidelines based on the National Association of Home Builders model. These guidelines promote eco-friendly building with minimal cost and maximum efficiency. BAWN feels it is important to build cohesively with the environment to encourage energy efficiency and conserve our natural resources. The Northern Nevada Green Building Program focuses on several aspects of building which include: Lot Design, Water Conservation, Energy Efficiency, and Resource Efficiency. This program is designed to help educate consumers and the construction industry on building green and rating green homes through a third party verification process to ensure homes built through the Green Building Program are effective and affordable.
