Networking Meeting

Involvement is Key to Membership Success!

By offering several special events and networking opportunities throughout the year, BAWN Members are promoting their businesses, making long lasting business relationships and friendships. Our motto: ‘Do Business with a Member’.

Monthly General Membership Meetings (GMM): Association meetings are held regularly on the third Tuesday of every month (except June, July and August), providing numerous opportunities to network, maintain the visibility of your company, and increase your sales and community presence. Whether it’s a business meeting or pure entertainment, you are sure to make new contacts and enhance your business. Four of those are themed events with the Installation and Awards Banquet in January, the Builders' Appreciation Dinner Dance in April, the Associates Appreciation in September and the Industry Forecast in November.

Councils and Committees are the driving force behind any Association. These are comprised of professionals coming together with fresh ideas and getting things done! Participation in one of BAWN’s committees or councils will allow new Members to interact in an informal, small group setting. It’s truly one of the easiest and more fun ways to network with other BAWN Members. Some committees and councils you may be interested in are:

Annual Outdoor Events: With industry-related educational and legislative needs always in our forethoughts, BAWN offers annual outdoor events to help fund our efforts and provide for great networking and social opportunities.

Golf Tournament / Proceeds benefit the Carson BUILD-PAC (Political Action Committee) Fund. With so many issues facing Western Nevada, we need to stay alert and informed during interim sessions and open sessions of the legislature. Typically in the spring, this tournament will become the fall fund-raiser in 2008 to go opposite the sporting clay shoot held every spring by BAWN.

Sporting Clay Shoot / Proceeds support the BAWN/ Edd P. Furgerson Memorial Scholarship Fund. This event in late March or early April each year helps BAWN sponsor scholarships for introductory trades’ courses to high school students interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. These credits may be applied toward a degree at Western Nevada College in Carson City.

Membership BBQ / No Profit - No Proceeds. Any proceeds resulting from raffles held at the BBQ contribute to the Association's operating fund, allowing FREE educational seminars and speakers at the GMM's. This event, which drew 300 people in 2007, is held in mid-to-late August from 5-8 p.m. at Mills Park, Pavilions B&C with a live band, games and activities, raffles and terrific food and beverages with ample time for socializing.
Nevada Day Pancake Breakfast and Parade / No Profit - No Proceeds. This is just good old-fashion family fun that starts every year at 7 a.m. at Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City. Stop by and have breakfast with old friends and make new ones, then take a short walk to the main boulevard to enjoy the celebration of our state’s history with the annual Nevada Day Parade in procession. The 2007 event, Saturday, Oct. 27, will see the BAWN Women's Council take over the festivities with all proceeds going towards scholarships for women in business to attend classes at WNC.
